Hailing from Regina, Saskatchewan, Kristofer Maddigan is a drummer/percussionist currently living in Toronto. While in Saskatchewan, Kris spent 5 years with the Regina Symphony Orchestra as well as maintaining an active teaching and freelance career. During that time he had the opportunity not only to play with many local artists such as Jack Semple, Jive Daddy and The Mambo Kings, and Stepchyle, but also international artists including Petula Clark, Rhonda Sheppard, The Drifters, and Canadian Idol runner up Theresa Sokyrka. He also played for The Globe Theatre's production of 'Just So', The Royal Winnipeg Ballet's touring production of Sleeping Beauty, and was also a founding member of electro rockers Lazerblade. Residing in Toronto since 2007, Kristofer has recently completed his Artist's Diploma in Percussion from The Glenn Gould School at The Royal Conservatory of Music, performed with groups as diverse as the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, the Brampton Symphony Orchestra, the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir, pianist Elliott Finkel, R&B artists Sweet Baby J’ai, and Julie Wolfe from The Indigo Girls, as well as becoming an in demand freelancer in the city. During the past decade Kris has had the opportunity to study with many world renowned and world class musicians such as John Rudolph and David Kent of the Toronto Symphony, drumset legend Joe Morello, marimbist Leigh Howard Stevens, Nexus Percussion, drummer Nick Fraser, tabla artist Vineet Vyas, and Latin percussionist Paul Ormandy. 2010 will see Kristofer touring extensively in South America and the Mediterranean. This is Kris’ first Homecoming show and he hopes it won’t be the last. (2009/12/06)
