Greg Duncan brings to the stage a unique guitar style that is steeped in a rich musical tradition. Beginning his training on classical piano at the age of six, he turned to guitar at the age of 11. At the conclusion of high school, Greg was awarded a continuing scholarship to the New England Conservatory in Boston where he earned his B.Mus. in Jazz Studies. There he had the privilege of studying with such renowned educators as Jerry Bergonzi, Bob Brookmeyer, George Garzone, Dave Holland and Danilo Perez. Greg has performed with Jimmy Heath, Roy Hargrove, Greg Osby, Kenny Wheeler, Kendrick Scott, Sean Jones, Francisco Mela, Jeremy Pelt, Bob Brookmeyer, George Garzone and Terri Lyne Carrington to name a few. On weekends Greg can be heard in the house-band at Wally’s Jazz Café in Boston with the Jason Palmer Collective. Greg thanks the Saskatchewan Arts Board and the Canada Council for their support as well as the Regina Jazz Society for their continued efforts in promoting jazz in Saskatchewan. (2009/12/23)
