Graham Purse

At thirteen years old, Graham's parents bought him his first bass.  Initially, he was influenced by rock and pop music, but after hearing the Manhattan Transfer and John McLaughlin, he became interested in jazz music. After high school,Graham attended Toronto's Humber College where he completed an Advanced Diploma in Music with Honours.  At the end of his second year of studies, he started playing aboard cruise ships.  It was at that point that Graham discovered his second love: travel. In seven years of cruising, Graham has had the chance to visit seventy countries.  His greatest pleasures include taking the Tahitian Princess out for its inaugural cruise, working aboard the Queen Mary 2, and being invited to take the Queen Elizabeth 2 around the world in 2006.  This past spring, Graham appeared on CBC 2's Canada Live as a part of the backing band with Jeff McLeod.
Recently, Graham has found inspiration in the music of Richard Bona, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Bireli Lagrene, and Armand Sabal-Lecco.  He is currently studying law at the University of Alberta.
