Maritime drummer Alain Bourgeois, who hails from Moncton, New Brunswick began his professional carreer at the age of 14 in the jazz fusion quintet Feu Vert. In 2000 and 2001,this young group produced and launched two cd’s that garnered a wide audience and the accolades of the artistic community : number one position on the top ten of radio CJSE; two nominations to the Prix Étoiles of the ARCANB and the Prix Éloize 2001 for Newcomer of the Year. The group toured extensively in the Maritime Provinces and the St Pierre and Miquelon Islands and participated in the many atlantic region jazz festivals : Harvest Jazz and Blues, Festival Acadien of Caraquet, Moncton Jazz Festival and Atlantic Jazz Festival. The following years, Alain performed and toured regularly with bluesman Marc-André Léger, jazz trumpeter Roland Bourgeois and roots and traditionnal group Banshee, for which he received an East Coast Music Awards nomination. While studying jazz performance at McGill University in Montreal, Alain regularly performs on the jazz scene and has accompanied such musicians as Johnny Scott, Charles Ellison, Josh Rager, Chet Doxas, Paul Johnston ,Sage Reynolds, Jeff Johnston, Andre Leroux and Min Rager. Recent projects include recordings with the Simon Legault Quartet, first prize winner of the Jazz en Rafale 2007 Contest, and with the Mario Allard Quintet. Alain also plays in the Montreal All City Big Band.
